From the President of
the Texas State Council of Machinists
The aim of this Council is to promote the interest of the
International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers in
cooperation and support of our International President, R. Thomas
Buffenbarger, throughout the Great State of Texas. We work to unite
within its folds all International Association of Machinists and
Aerospace Workers Lodges in the State, fostering unity of purpose
and action; to assure passage of legislation beneficial to Labor and
to work against legislation detrimental to Labor; to cooperate with
all Grand Lodge and District Lodge Representatives to promote the
interests of our Organization; to promote cooperation of all State
and Central Bodies; and to promote concerted action with the
membership in the fields of education, human rights, health and
safety, and community service and support.
While we support a strong
defense of our Nation, we also support the right of those who toil
in Labor the full extent of the wealth created by their labor
through wages, benefits, and retirement.

We cannot allow
the sacrifice of one for the other; we must work with those
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to insure the basic rights of
our membership so that they may enjoy the fruits of their labor. We
also have the responsibility to make certain that those generations
yet to come will have a solid foundation on which they too may enjoy
the benefits that have been won through the hard fought battles.
We will need
the help of every Member to achieve our goals. We know we can count
on the Members of the International Association of Machinists and
Aerospace Workers.
